Cotswold Section of the VMCC – The Felix Burke Weekend
9th & 10th April 2022
The weekend consists of a gentle non-competitive Saturday Social Run, with stops for coffee and lunch, and Sunday’s 66th Felix Burke Road Trial. Riders are welcome to take part on either or both of these.
Sunday’s Felix Burke Trial is a navigational event.
There are 16 checkpoints around the Cotswolds, and the aim is to visit up to 12 of these using your own route of up to 60 miles (we provide a mileage chart to help you plan your day). At each checkpoint there are marshals to ask you devious questions to test your motorcycling knowledge, and at some checkpoints you can choose to ride a green lane instead of getting the questions wrong (none of the lanes are too extreme, but a little 125 single might be a better choice than a fully dressed sports bike if it’s wet).
Riders score points for finding checkpoints, for getting questions right, for riding green lanes and for every mile ridden (according to our mileage chart). There are bonus points for inexperienced riders and some less suitable bikes.
The event finishes at Andoversford Village Hall with hot drinks, a slap-up banquet (well, fish & chips and cake), banter and beer. Everyone gets a rally badge – one to show your grandchildren in years to come.
A week or so later a few prize winners will be announced, but it’s not about the prizes unless you’re that way inclined.
Although the weekend is for VMCC members driving pre-1998 motorcycles and three-wheelers, younger machines and non-members are welcome to join in.
